Dear Diary,
Have you heard the cliche, "Nothing Lasts Forever?" As I reflect about my life I recognize that I've changed alot. And am consciously aware that my transition into eternity is fast approaching, eh I know this sounds incongruous. Am on Day 4 of #Purpose_Driven_Life by Rick Warren.
Last week mama and I had a convo about the shelf life of honey. I remember her saying that honey lasts forever if it's harvested and stored properly and I thought that was exagerated. I actually asked Google and much of what I got show that if honey is harvested properly, unprocessed and stored in cool, dry place tightly sealed, it is safe to consume indefinitely. Thinking of other things such as: grass grows and withers; flowers bloom and die; seasons come and pass...most don't last forever.
All beings die! But wait a minute! Rick Warren says, "I was made to last forever." Ecclesiastes 3:11 says God has planted eternity in the human heart. Surely, death is inevitable but it's not a termination but a transition into eternity. There's indeed more to the life than here and now. God designed us in His image-to live for eternity.
Warren tells us that eternity offers us only two choices:heaven or hell. Your choice today and your relationship with God will determine your relationship to Him in eternity. So, live now in the light of eternity. To make the most of your life, you must keep the vision of eternity continually in your mind.
Are you speculating how the eternity will be like? Well, no words invented by man can describe it but if you glean from the scripture, you can find a glimpse of eternity in God's revelation (Bible). The most important of all is, we shall enjoy unlimited, unbroken, uninterrupted relationship with God. Rick closes this chapter with a sobering reminder that, "Only a fool would go through life unprepared for what we all know will eventually happen (death-a transition into eternity). You need to think more about eternity, not less."
My friend, your lifespan here on earth is limited to a century, more or less. But eternity awaits you. Have you made a choice about your eternal destiny?
Regards
