Dear Diary,
#Words_Are_Like_SuperGlue, they stick longer and have dire consequences.
From my own relationships I have realized that combative words spark wars, hostility, bitterness, hate and destruction. On the other hand, kind and peaceful words calm souls, quiet hearts and prevent volatile arguments and situations from escalating. Motivating and encouraging words impart bravery and empower a doubting Thomas to accomplish a task. Considerate and loving words birth healthy relationship and bond souls.
Now, from my own life there's countless evidence of the power and lasting impact of words, both positive and negative someone said to me or about me. To date, some echo in my soul and recall for me feelings of pain and sorrow or joy, love, inspiration and motivation.
A case in point, years ago a family friend told my mommy that I am such an unhappy kid, ever keeping a frawny face. Then mama attacked me with that and to say the truth, it hurt my heart. I hated myself for that and grew up thinking I was a frawny little girl. Fast-forward, years later I had an opportunity to spent a weekend with a Maasai Community in the interiors of Kajiado county and on the day I was leaving they asked if they could give me a new name. I agreed to the proposal and they gave me the name NASHIPAE which means "Furaha/Joy." In their parting speech, the spokesperson said, "NASHIPAE suits you well. You're a girl full of life, joy and happiness (wewe ni furaha kweli). Your joy has been contagious over the few days you have stayed with us. You have made us laugh countless times." I tell you, I was overwhelmed and since then my name has been NASHIPAE. Wherever I go and introduce myself, I say I'm "Elizabeth Kalekye Nzaku Nashipae. I am a joyous person. I live. I love. I laugh."
Those simple words made a huge difference that has stuck like superglue. Those words echo in my heart and recall for me JOY UNSPEAKABLE. Thing is, words are powerful and they have stellar or sorrowful consequences.Thing is, words are powerful and they have stellar or sorrowful consequences. They impact on lives. Proverbs 18:21, words have power to produce life or death.
Prayer,
Abba Father, forgive me for the countless times I have spoken scorchy words haphazardly. I also forgive those who have said hurting words to me or about me. Let the words of my mouth, texts (sms), posts, comments be acceptable to You Lord.
Amen.
