Dear Diary,
How does your residential or workplace gatekeeper do his work? The current askari at my workplace is careful who he lets in into our yard. If he doesn't recognize a visitor, he doesn't open the gate.
ION, I came across John Bunyan's book, "The Holy War." It's an interesting allegory. There's a place called Mansoul which has 6 gates namely: Eye_Gate, Ear-Gate, Mouth-Gate, Feel-Gate, Nose-Gate and Hell-Gate. Eye and Ear gates are very significant gates entering into Mansoul. Mouth-Gate is where proclamations are read and sent. The assault seems to be mainly at the Eye and Ear-Gates. Where am I going with this? The Bible calls us to guard our gates. "Whoever looketh...," "Let who has ears hear what the Lord says."
A lingering view, not just a glance, leads one to succumb to the realm of thought and eventually a yielding into a deed. In fact, the downfall of man is traced down to the Eye and Ear Gates. Genesis 3:6, Eve saw and heard; 1 Kings 19:3, when Elijah saw/read/heard Jezebel' message, he took off; Josh 7:21, Achan saw, coveted and took the forbidden plunder. That brought trouble to Israel and for that he was stoned to death; Matt 14:30, when Peter saw the storm, his faith collapsed and began to sink.
The Eye and the Ear are significant windows to the soul. What you see and/or hear influence how you think, what you say and/or how you act. In fact what flows from the reservoir (heart) through the Mouth-Gate work powerfully in your life. The gatekeeper to your Eye and Ear- Gate is either Flesh or Spirit. The gatekeepers determine who/what goes through and/or what to keep out.
Galatians 5:17 describes the battle between the two gatekeepers while Romans 8:5-8 describes how the battle is won. The flesh desires what's contrary to the flesh and vise versa. They are in constant conflict with each other. To win the battle, your mind has to be set on what the Spirit desires. You must put to death the misdeeds of the body, Rom 8:12.

Whoever wins at the gate takes the city, so guard the access points into your soul. Let me close with this story. The Great wall of China... It was build to keep enemies from invading. But did the massive impregnable wall really stop the enemies? It is said that China was invaded three times. With such fortification, how was the security breached? Simply the enemy bribed the gatekeeper! If the gatekeeper to your Eye and Ear Gates isn't loyal and concerned about your eternal destiny, you are doomed!
