DO WHAT HE (JESUS) TELLS YOU TO DO, John 2:5.

Good morning world!

I just finish reading a book, "What Would Jesus Pray?" and I learned a priceless lesson about prayer. Jesus' life was filled with prayer and everytime He OBEYED what His Father told Him. His desire was always to do the will of the Father and for His glory. It got me thinking, I have many things have been praying for and as I did a soul search this morning, I ask myself am I really ready and willing to OBEY what He tells me?
John 2:1-12, is a passage we all know-the wedding at Cana where Jesus performed His first sign by turning water into wine. His mother came and humbly informed Jesus that wine had run out. She further instructed the servants to do whatever Jesus would tell them to do. Then Jesus told the servants to fill the stone jars with water, draw some and give it to the stewards of the wedding. When the stewards tasted it, the water had turned to wine but they didn't know where it had come from(only th servants knew). Well, in my world, how could filling stone jars with water save the situation? It sounds incredible!
What shall I say? When we are in want, lets humbly spread our case to Jesus and refer ourselves to Him to do as He pleases. Am I really ready and willing to do what He'll tell me? God wants to do something extraordinary and unforgettable for His glory but am I willing to OBEY without question?

Do you Know, Understand and Appreciate the Person and Nature of God?

Dear reader,

How we understand and view God will affect the way we regard Him and the way we worship Him.

First, Who is God?
Every religion has a belief in the existence of a superior being (s). To this being (s), the followers owe their spiritual allegiance and worship.
So who is God? The God of the Bible is Spirit. He is not tangible or visible or in the form of a natural or human creation. John 4:24, “God is Spirit and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” He doesn’t live in houses made by men (Acts 7:48; Deuteronomy 4:15-19).

Does God have a Name?

In every language, there is a word that is generally used to refer to the deity in that community. The special and personal name by which the God of Israel revealed Himself to His people is YAHWEH in Hebrew, a.k.a. JEHOVAH in Greek. Ex. 6:3, “And I appeared to Abraham, unto Isaac and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by My name Jehovah was I not known to them.” The name appears to mean-the unchanging, eternal, self-existent God-the “I AM” that I AM, “a Covenant-keeping God”.  Ex. 3:4, “I Am who I Am” Jews held the name YAHWEH to be too sacred to be pronounced by anybody, except by the high priest on the great Day of Atonement. Because of that, the Jews instead preferred to refer to God by the term Adonai or the LORD (with cap locks) eg. Ex 15:3, “The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is His name.” So LORD actually refers to the actual name of God-YAHWEH/JEHOVAH. In many texts we find both the generic and the distinctive name of God used together i.e. the LORD God to distinguish Yahweh/Jehovah from other gods, as in Lev. 20:7; Psalm 84:11; Gen. 2:7, “...The LORD God...”
Note, in the Bible God is also referred to by many names which are DESCRIPTIVE of His ATTRIBUTES e.g. El- Shaddai, Rapha, Jireh. However, His personal name is YAHWEH.

Where did God Come From?

Some gods are idols created by human hands while others are natural phenomena such as sun, moon, stars, mountains, animals, rivers, trees etc. But in Christianity, the Bible assumes the existence of God. He pre-existed all things and will exist eternally. Gen. 1:1; John 1:1-2, There is NO attempt in the scriptures to explain the origin of God. Go simply IS.

Yahweh is my God.

Excuse me Sir/Madam, I'd like to see Jesus! John 12:21.

Dear Diary,
For some years now I have been working as a receptionist/secretary. Almost every day people come to the office, "Excuse me madam, I'd like to see the boss." I then ask them if I may know what it is about, who they are and then offer them a seat and then inform my boss that 'Mr. Xyz' or 'Madam Abcd' wants to see him in regards to this and that. On one occasion a City Council Askari came and when I asked him his name, he threw his driving license at me. I don't know if he wanted me to know he is a rich man with a car or what but I didn't care to check the name. I handed back to him his DL and told him to go in (that's story for another day). Well, some people think that receptionists are the most mean people in an office and they can decided to tell you book an appointment and come another day. That's quite frustrating but let's shelve this for a moment and shift our focus to John 12. Six days before Passover, Jesus came to Bethany at Lazarus' hood. Dinner was given in Jesus' honor. Then Mary poured an expensive perfume on Jesus' feet and wiped his feet with her hair and th house was filled with fragrance. Meanwhile a large crowd found that Jesus was in the hood and came to see Him and the resurrected Lazarus.
The next day He was on His way to Jerusalem and people took palm branches and went out to meet Him. Now, there were some Greeks who went up to worship at the festival(Passover). They came to Philip of Bethsaida, with a request. They said, "We would like to see Jesus." Philip went to tell Andrew; and Andrew and Philip in turn told Jesus.
Dear born again Christian, the world is hungry and thirsty for Jesus. They want to see Him. They want to see Christ in us, the Hope of Glory. Are you willing to show them Jesus? They need us to offer Christ as an experience; a practical encounter with Jesus Christ who will answer their felt needs. And when they have an encounter with Him, they'll never be the same. You have an opportunity to show people who Jesus Christ is, what He does for and in them when they accept Him to be their personal Lord and Savior

My Friend's Big Hand.

Dear Diary,

It's been awhile since I scribbled something in your pages. Tonight I have an experience I want to scribble.
Last week I visited a friend of mine, he took my hand in his hand and it seemed like my tiny hand got lost in his big hand. Now, that reminds me today I tried to hold multiple things in my hands but they all came tumbling down. You should have seen my frustration! So, as I clasped the hand of my friend I was trying to figure out how much/many things he can hold in his big hand.
How about God's hands?
"For I am the LORD, Your God,
who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13. This past few weeks I have been anxious about my future. But God has reminded me that He holds the whole world in His hands. He's got me, you and everyone else in His hand.
When Jesus holds our hand in His big hand, He will never let us slip and fall and we do not have to fear even about the unknown future.

You Don't Want God Humbling You, Humble yourself!

Humility is a Fruit of the Spirit, Galatians 5:22-23.
Daniel 4, we are told about the vision Nebuchadnezzar had of a Great Tree whose height was great and visible to the end of the earth; it's leaves beautiful and fruit abundant. Suddenly, an angelic watcher descended from heaven and cut it down. This great tree was Nebuchadnezzar himself and his kingdom. God gave him enough time to repent of his sin and exhibit repentance by doing what is right; to turn away from his pride and wickedness and show mercy to the poor, so that if he repent there may possibly be a continuance of his prosperity, tranquility and a healing of his error vs. 27. Twelve months later, he hadn't repented! He looked around and decided that all his gains and greatness were the result of his own military genius vs. 30-31. God sent him a healthy dose of humiliation whereby he ate grass like cattle. When he came to his senses and gave God the praise, the Lord restored his sanity vs. 34.
For sure, it's better to humble yourself. 1 Peter 5:5, says that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Verse 6 tells us to humble ourselves.
Humility is a matter of perspective. It's how you see yourself in relation to God and the people around you. Romans 12:3 calls us not to think of ourselves highly than we ought to think, but think soberly and not be wise in our own opinion. Instead humility should be a matter of balance whereby we don't think too highly or too lowly of ourselves.
Finally, do not be puffed up 1 Corinthians 4, but humble yourself so that God can use you and ultimately exalt you. When you are humble people can trust you and allow you to serve them.
REPENT of PRIDE and LEARN to HUMBLE YOURSELF. Acknowledge the power of God and never think your gains are a result of your own genius, strength or merit. When we refuse to repent, just as Nebuchadnezzar, God gives us a dose of healthy humiliation! Pride and self-conceit are sins that beset great men. Never take glory to yourself which is due to God only. God knows how to abase those that walk in pride, but gives grace to the humble
Prayer: O Sovereign God pls forgive me for the many times have been puffed up. I repent of pride. I want to have a Christlike attitude of humility. Let the indwelling Holy Spirit produce this fruit in me.
