Galatians 4:15, “What happened to your joy?"

Joy is defined as a feeling of great happiness. It is an expression or exhibition of delight. However, based on personal experience, Christian joy is not like happiness which is based upon what happens around you. Christian joy remains even amidst suffering. It cannot be faked. You either have it or you don’t have it! In Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Thessalonians 1:6, we learn that Joy is a result of having the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Its source is God Himself. Psalm 43:4, for God is my exceeding joy. Nehemiah 8:10, the joy of the Lord is my strength.” Psalm 16:11, In God’s presence there is fullness of joy and pleasure ever more. While happiness is fleeting as it is based upon happenings, the Joy of the Lord is a permanent possession. I love the adjectives that go with joy such as: exceeding joy, great joy, unspeakable joy.

In conclusion, indeed, God wants us to have exceeding joy; unspeakable joy, inexpressible joy; fullness of joy; great joy. And it is important to know that Joy is an evidence of God’s presence in your life. As a fruit of the Spirit, it doesn’t grow over night! You have to cultivate it. You have to abide in the Vine (Jesus) so that your joy be made full and complete and overflowing (John 15:11). God will fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with joyful shouting (if you are found blameless) (Job 8:21).
Dear friend, no matter your circumstance, choose to have a rejoicing attitude. “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice,” (Philippians 4:4). Count it all pure joy when you meet trials of various kinds (James 2:1).

Have a joyful life,
