Delight Yourself in the LORD, Psalm 37.

Here's one of the greatest Psalms that exhorts us on how to conduct ourselves under certain dispensations. Have you ever found yourself apt to fret at God and yourself with vexation at the success and prosperity of corrupt and godless men and women?
It reminds me of the times my friend and i go like, "Where was my grandpa when other grandpas were grabbing chunks of land in some fertile locations for their grandchildren?" I don't know about you but there times I have found myself fret and envy people, some who are godless, corrupt and mischievous yet they seem to flourish, prosper and live in pomp. They roll out in big cars and I live in pomp. Thanks be to God for this Psalm
When we fret and envy, we are apt to fret at God and ourselves. Fretting and envying are unhealthy to th spirit and the rottenness of the bones. A fretful discontented spirit is open to temptation. Once we indulge in the fretting we are in danger of doing evil. Many end up shaking off their restraints of conscience to be mischievous in order to gain riches and live in pomp.
So what does this Psalm teach us?
It forbids us from fretting at the prosperity of the wicked nor envy their scandalous character (vs.1, 7, 8); you can be sure they'll be cut off; they'll come to ruin (vs. 2).
Instead of fretting and being envious:
1. Trust in the Lord and do good. By doing so, you will dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture (vs 3, Psalm 23).
2. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart (vs. 4) i.e.a desire to please God and to be pleased by Him. He'll be your exceeding joy (Psalm 43:4).
3. Commit your way to the Lord, trust Him (vs. 5-6). By so doing, He'll make your light shine like the dawn. He'll roll away your reproach. You don't have to cumber and trouble yourself with a load of care. Submit all your intricate and perplexing issues to God. Sit still and see how the matter rolls (Ruth 3:18).
4. Be still and wait patiently for the Lord and refrain from anger (vs. 7-8). Rest in th Lord. Fret not. Be satisfied with what God is doing.
As a child of God you have no reason to fret at the occasional successes of the designs of the wicked. The way to our happiness is this:
1. Render to all their dues. Repay what you have borrowed (vs.21).
2. Generously give and be a blessing to others (vs. 26).
3. Depart from evil and do good (vs. 27).
4. With your tongue glorify God, speak wisdom (vs. 30)
5. Subject your will to God and His word (vs. 31)
Wait in the Lord. Fret not. Delight yourself in God. Commit every thing in Him. Trust in Him. Be still. Refrain from anger.
Have a delightful life
