Dear Diary,
Today am on Day 3 of #Purpose_Driven_Life by Rick Warren.
How many of us can remember the Caltex Gasoline Station " What Drives You?" Campaign? Caltex Stations provided superior services but what happened to Caltex Brand in Kenya especially? What's driving us now?
Take lyrics of the song, "Jesus take the Wheel" written by Hillary Lee Lindsey, Brett James and Gordon Francis. This song tells of a young woman driving home for Christmas, to see her parents, with her baby sleeping at the back seat. She had alot in her mind; snowed roads; 50 miles to go and she was running low on faith and gasoline. She was going way too fast and before she knew it, she went into a skid. She feared for her and her baby's life. Instead of slamming on the brakes and steering the car in the right direction, like any ordinary driver, she threw her hands up in the air and said, "Jesus take the Wheel!" Is that even recommended in driving school? Miraculously, guided by Jesus the car came to a safe stop with her baby still asleep in the back seat. At that point she vowed to change. When Jesus is the driving force, you're safe!
According to Rick Warren, everyone's life is driven by something. Circumstances, values and emotions can drive your life. The writer of Ecclesiastes 4:4 observed that the motive for success is the driving force of envy and jealousy. He refers to it as meaningless and a chasing after the wind. There are countless things that can drive your life but all lead to a dead end. The most fulfilling driving force is GOD'S PURPOSE. When you are driven by God's purpose: it gives your life meaning; it helps you align your priorities properly; it gives you focus; it motivates and prepares you for eternity.
What is the driving force in your life?
Yours faithful scribbler,
