Psalm 119:103, "How sweet are Your Words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"
Why would the psalmist compare God's word to honey? If I had to describe God's word, what word(s) would I use?

Whenever I walk into a supermarket, I always find myself thinking about the strategic position of some irresistible goodies like ice-cream,candy,chocolates, chewing gums etc. Today was one of those days I walked into a supermarket and had an irresistible appetite for a Cadbury chocolate with nuts. I picked 80g bar and just before I paid, my eyes were glued on another brand I had not seen before. I decide to exchange my Cadbury bar with that other 'new brand' which was 100g and cheaper than the Cadbury bar. I was really eager to taste it and as soon as i stepped out, I couldn't wait to get home,I opened and tasted the chocolate. Honestly, I didn't like its taste. I should have stuck to my Cadbury choice which is smooth and sweet! What made me buy it? Well, it was more pocket friendly and I liked its attractive packaging.
Let me shift back to Psalm 119:103. For me I'd say God's word is sweeter than my sweet Cadbury chocolate. We are living at a time when some preachers are packaging God's word to suit their personal ambitions, leaving a bad taste in our mouths. But those who know the authentic taste of God's word will not go for cheap and adulterated taste. Whenever I have bought chocolates I have consistently bought Cadbury (well, don't get it twisted, am not marketing Cadbury chocolates,it's just that I love and enjoy its taste).
To know, love and enjoy the sweet authentic taste of God's word: spend quality time reading, studying, meditating, memorizing and sharing God's word (Bible); be consistent and pray that God teaches you His word and that He gives you understanding of His decrees.
May God's word be sweet like honey in my lips and authentic music to my ears. Psalm 119 is a love poem of God's Word.
With love,
