Do Kids Forget a Promise? Never!
From the heart of a scribbler, good evening/morning/afternoon to y'all.
Do kids forget a promise? Never! God has blessed me with two adorable nieces Mwende and Mutanu (I love these girls very much). This Mutanu girl calls me to remind me of every promise I make to her. Normally she calls me Kalekye but when she means business and needs my attention, she calls me Aunt Kachel. Last week she called me and went straight to the point, "Aunt Kachel, will you come for my second term visiting (at Kathonzweni)?" Before I answered, she went ahead to remind me the several times I made some promises to her but haven't fulfilled them."
I'm working hard to be a nice credible and trustworthy aunt. "Baby girl. I will come for the visit and I'll honor every promise I made to you, so help me God!"
"Aunt Kachel, that's a deal?"
"Yes Mutanu, it's a deal! I promise I'll visit you in school and I will will keep the promises." I expect that my niece will always keep reminding me of my promises to her and I know she will claim them boldly.

2 Corinthians 1:20, "For no matter how many promises God has made, they're 'Yes' in Christ. And so through Him the 'Amen' is spoken by us to th glory of God." Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, Nehemiah and other men of faith always reminded God of His promise/covenant; not because God had forgotten His promise but to acknowledge Him for who He is-Faithful, good, great and awesome. My niece reminds me because I forget but God's promises are Yes in Christ and Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God.
My friend, stand on God's word and remind Him of His promises. Have faith in Him for who He is-Yahweh, the Covenant -keeper, faithful and true to His word. Humbly and boldly claim His promises. Speak Amen to His glory. Kids don't forget promises. Do not forget the promises God has made to you. Alisema atakubariki? He is faithful. Alisema atakupa mtoto? Tulia na ujue yeye ni mwema. Alisema hatakuacha? usihofu ata wakati wa dhiki Yeye ni Mkuu.
Humbly, Boldly and in Faith Claim God's promises. His name is Yahweh, the Covenant-Keeper.

What was this thorn in the flesh?
2 Cor 12:7-10, "...A thorn in the flesh.... but My grace is sufficient in your weakness."
The above passage is the most abused/misused passage in the bible to justify submitting to nearly any problem that comes along. Satan gets this scripture twisted to deceive many.
What was this thorn in the flesh? Vs. 9-10, it implies that the thorn was an infirmity that was given to him because of the surpassing revelations given to him in order to keep him from being conceited (vs. 7). Does infirmity mean sickness? Why would Paul boast in this infirmity or thorn in the flesh? If it be a sickness is it that God couldn't heal Paul? Actually many preachers say that paul's infirmity was a rare ancient sickness, a dread eye disease etc but that's not so read the passages that talk about infirmities keenly you will see the context.
In my opinion, infirmity (thorn in the flesh) doesn't necessarily mean sickness. Numbers 33:55; Joshua 23:13 and Judges 2:3-which talks people as being thorns in ur eyes and sides. In addition, Rom 8:26; Hebrew 5:2; 7:2; 2 Cor 12:9-10; 11:16-30, Proverbs 18:14-talks of some glorifying infirmities that include- some sort of human weakness, reproaches, insults, sickness, hardships, persecutions, difficulties etc. Remember had even received 39lashes, was stoned, flogged, shipwrecked, spent sleepless nights, cold and naked? Paul referred to these persecutions as infirmities. So in Paul's context, I can say that the demon was constantly stirring persecution against him. The obvious question then, so could Paul have asked God to remove persecutions from him? I believe he did. The purpose of this thorn in the flesh was to keep Paul humble vs.7. Am just wandering and wondering, what if everything was rosy for Paul? What if my and your life were a bed of roses? Hehe, roses are beautiful and fragrant but they have thorns!
Paul's thorn was a demon sent to buffet (strike him repeatedly). 2 Cor 4:8-9, "We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed." As for this infirmity (persecution & hardships) it will continue to buffet us (Acts 14:22, through many tribulations we MUST enter the kingdom) but for sure, His grace is sufficient.
So let's not let the devil lie to us that God cannot redeem us from some sort of sickness. Jesus died on the cross to redeem us from sin and to heal our diseases and sicknesses. Scriptures say that by His stripes we are healed healed. When we go through various trials, infirmities let's count it all pure joy, because the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, James 1:2-4.
That's my understanding, I welcome any comments, additions, thoughts and illuminations. Remember, iron sharpens iron, Proverbs 27:17.

#Where_My_Treasure_Is_There_Is_My_Heart
A few years ago, I desperately needed a permanent, decent and well paying job. So I took it to God in prayer. I prayed and made a vow to God that if He'd give me that job I'd give Him all my salary for the first month. Hehe, desperate times calls for desperate actions besides, I had heard that if I needed a miracle from God it was necessary to give a seed offering (not a bad idea, but the motive!)
Months later on March 24th 2008, I got my present job and my April salary was supposed to be all for God. Unfortunately when I got th cash, honestly I was even operating on deficit, meaning I wasn't able to give the whole salary to God as I had promised Him (felt guilty) but I kept telling God I would still honor my vow and bring a whole month salary, don't know when but someday I'd do it. Eh,this was really difficult thing to do especially now that I had the job and I seemed to have innumerable expenses and bills to pay.
Fast forward, years later I still didn't manage to honor my vow. Over the years my salary tripled and one day I woke up feeling that God had blessed me so much-with good health, family and so much favor and grace was upon me and I was still willing to bring my whole month salary to God. But would this be possible especially now that my salary had tripled? I just bowed my head down and said, "God, You have been so generous to me. My salary has tripled since the 1st year of my employment. I know it's harder to give You now than back then but am willing and ready to give/honor you with my firstfruit. Am not giving You because I am manipulating You to give something more but because am grateful that I have traveled along way with You. Please receive my thanksgiving offering." I took the money, a whole month salary and brought it to God's house. God has remained generous, faithful and gracious to me. I don't know about you but so many times God has tested me on the area of finances. There are months I failed to pay my tithes and promised God the next month I'd pay double but that was just difficult to do. I reached a point and I purposed no matter how financially unstable I am, I'll never fail to pay my tithes and offerings. I want to be faithful with small and even when I have much. I must say for sure God has continued to rebuke the devourer for me.
Let me turn my attention to three people from the book of Acts chapter 4:37; and chapter 5. Barnabas had sold his property and brought ALL the money at the feet of the apostles. Ananias and Saphira too sold their property and brought part of the proceeds at the feet of the apostles and lied that it was ALL. The other details you know, they died!
So what am I leading at? The way you spend your money, the attitude you have towards money reflect your values. The New Testament has more verses that talk about possession and money than about heaven and hell. Of Jesus' 38 parables, 16 parables or so deal with Money and Possessions. Why? Of cos where your treasure is there your heart will also be, Matthew 6:21.
Paying our tithes should be our priority as soon as we receive our income. Tithes should be paid faithfully, willingly and cheerfully. If you are not faithful with the little you have, even when you have more it will be difficult for you to give. Also giving God our firstfruit is biblical but should never be used to manipulate God to do us a favor. A thanksgiving offering too, is biblical and should be done out of an overflow of gratitude to God for who He is and what He has done.
May God help and teach us to pay our tithes, give our offerings-thanksgiving offerings as well as firstfruit offerings with an attitude of gratitude and love. May we learn that we are only stewards and God alone owns all that we have. Silver and gold is His. The earth and everything thereof is His so is the cattle upon a thousand hills.
God loves a cheerful giver.

Psalm 119:103, "How sweet are Your Words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"
Why would the psalmist compare God's word to honey? If I had to describe God's word, what word(s) would I use?
Why would the psalmist compare God's word to honey? If I had to describe God's word, what word(s) would I use?
Whenever I walk into a supermarket, I always find myself thinking about the strategic position of some irresistible goodies like ice-cream,candy,chocolates, chewing gums etc. Today was one of those days I walked into a supermarket and had an irresistible appetite for a Cadbury chocolate with nuts. I picked 80g bar and just before I paid, my eyes were glued on another brand I had not seen before. I decide to exchange my Cadbury bar with that other 'new brand' which was 100g and cheaper than the Cadbury bar. I was really eager to taste it and as soon as i stepped out, I couldn't wait to get home,I opened and tasted the chocolate. Honestly, I didn't like its taste. I should have stuck to my Cadbury choice which is smooth and sweet! What made me buy it? Well, it was more pocket friendly and I liked its attractive packaging.
Let me shift back to Psalm 119:103. For me I'd say God's word is sweeter than my sweet Cadbury chocolate. We are living at a time when some preachers are packaging God's word to suit their personal ambitions, leaving a bad taste in our mouths. But those who know the authentic taste of God's word will not go for cheap and adulterated taste. Whenever I have bought chocolates I have consistently bought Cadbury (well, don't get it twisted, am not marketing Cadbury chocolates,it's just that I love and enjoy its taste).
To know, love and enjoy the sweet authentic taste of God's word: spend quality time reading, studying, meditating, memorizing and sharing God's word (Bible); be consistent and pray that God teaches you His word and that He gives you understanding of His decrees.
May God's word be sweet like honey in my lips and authentic music to my ears. Psalm 119 is a love poem of God's Word.

Can two walk together peacefully except they be agreed?
As usual, I love to use illustrations in my sermons and today I will focus on one of my personal relationships. I have a friend; we have a few 1,2,3... things we share in common. We love each other but there is something wrong with our relationship. First, we don't not communicate effectively. Second, mostly we do not agree. Of course, it is normal and natural not to agree on everything because we have different interests, preferences and personalities but at least I believe that there should be common goal and vision that we can agree on especially, so as to enhance our relationship and make it healthy and beneficial to each other.
One of the reasons my friend and I fail to agree is because, 1. We don't have mutual communion/fellowship. 2. We do not have concord. 3. We lack a common goal and vision. 4. We always fall out on the way and that leaves us feeling angry/bitter, frustrated, stressed and wasted. What follows next, we bitterly accuse each other but the sad thing is that we rarely addresses the issues. We rarely sit down to talk about the real issues that are making our friendship dysfunctional, we wait for time to pass, overlook the issues and assume nothing happened, in other words we bottle it up. After sometime we reach out to each other with 'sweet somethings' like 'hey, missed you. How yo' doing?" And move on as if nothing had happened. When another hiccup rocks our relationship, I end up opening the canned issues but still it gets us nowhere but only leaves both of us feeling angry and frustrated.
So where am I getting at with this "been on this Mount Kadesh Barnea for too long?" What is the problem with our relationship? Story for another day but let me explain something at this point.
Amos 3:3, two cannot walk to together unless they meet together, and appoint time and place, when and where they shall set out, what road they will take, and whither they will go; without such consultation and agreement, it cannot be thought they should walk together; and not amicably, unless united in friendship, and are of the same affection to each other, and of the same sentiments one with another; or it is much if they do not fall out by the way. The design of these words is to show, that without friendship there is no fellowship, and without concord no communion; as this is the case between man and man, so between God and man; and we should not expect that God should walk with us, and show Himself friendly to us, and continue His favors with us, when we walk contrary to Him; when we are so disagreeable to Him in our sentiments of faith, worship, and in the whole of our conduct and behavior. In our spiritual walk with God and communion with Him, agreement is requisite. God and man were originally chief friends, but sin set them at variance; a reconciliation became necessary to their walking together again; which was set on foot, not by man; but by the Lord, the offended party. Through Jesus' sacrifice and satisfaction, the agreement is made on the part of God, His justice is satisfied; but still it is necessary man should be agreed too. When the soul is reconciled to God's way of salvation, and loves the Lord, and delights in Him; and both being thus agreed, they walk comfortably together by faith, and in His fear, in the ways and ordinances of the Lord.
Oh God, help to always agree with you and walk with you in faith and faithfully.
Thank you,
Nzaku Nashipae Kachel
#WAIT_A_MINUTE!
#WAIT_A_MINUTE!
Wait?
Wait?
Everyone has to WAIT-in queues, for exam/medical results, for deliveries, e.t.c. Above all else we must learn to wait on, in and for the Lord.
I have always had the privilege of working against traffic, so i do not wake up at 4 am so as to leave my house by 5 am to avoid being caught up in traffic (Thank You Lord). I don't understand how people survive in traffic for hours.... So,the other day i got caught up in traffic and it took me 45 mins in one spot and I decided my time was so precious than the 30sh I had paid. I decided to alight and try walking thinking I'll be faster than the matatu, just then, the traffic cleared! So I had to get into another mat and pay again- and there was no traffic ahead! To be honest, I don't like being kept on wait. I don't like it but I accept the fact that I must learn to wait.
When waiting, many things and changes (can) happen; attitudes, feelings and emotions are developed. As you wait you can choose to feel frustrated, angered, anxious and dismayed or you can choose to walk away or try helping God with weaving the tapestry of your life. In His lyrics, Donnie McClurkin encourages us "If you wait, wait, wait on the Lord.
And you'll see
He will always come through
Must, just, trust in Him
He will keep His word"
And you'll see
He will always come through
Must, just, trust in Him
He will keep His word"
Psalm 130:5-6, "My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning." Watchmen wait for the dawn with anticipation. For them, the morning signifies their release from duty. Waiting on the Lord means you look to God with expectation and to eagerly anticipates what He is about to do. What you're waiting for is very important because it's what motivates you to wait. As you wait on God,you must surrender to His timing. As you wait, don't try to help God in weaving your life's tapestry instead worship and praise Him. Do not allow impatience and restlessness abort your miracle. Be expectant with confidence of fulfillment. Have hope. Have faith. Look to Jesus.
Isaiah 64:4, "God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him." Psalm 40, wait patiently for the Lord,He will turn to you. He will hear you.
1 Samuel 13:1-15, King Saul became impatient and restless then he offered unathorized burnt offering and as a result God rejected him and his kingdom did not endure.
Friends, it is worth waiting on God patiently.
"Wait with expectation
Wait with anticipation
Wait,I will worship You Lord
While I wait."
Wait with anticipation
Wait,I will worship You Lord
While I wait."

The Extravagant Love that Makes us Acceptable
I always keep a notebook/diary in my handbag so that I can always scribble my thoughts, observations and illustrations that spice my sermons.
This evening as I made my way to Greenspan,I saw a post on Harambee Sacco Estate gate that reads, "...no chokoras (street children)"
Of cos, this made me ask myself few questions? "Who are chokoras? Why is it that they are not allowed in the estate? When we see a chokora in our estates/neighborhood what comes into our minds? When those chokoras read that post, how do they feel?
Jeremiah 1:5, before conception in our mother's womb, God knew us and chose us for a specific task... Each individual has a destiny. At certain seasons of our lives people may/will reject us because of our present circumstances but if we keep our eyes on Jesus we will never be the same. God calls us to come to Him just as we are so that He can transform our lives and conform us to the image of His Son Jesus. He chooses us, not because we deserve. Not because we are clean and well kept but because of His love, grace and mercy.
John 15:16, "You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. Verse 17. This is my command: Love each other." Jesus chose us because of His extravagant grace, love and mercy.

Amazing Love
I'm forgiven because you were forsaken
I'm accepted, You were condemned
I'm alive and well
Your spirit is within me
Because you died and rose again
Amazing love, how can it be?
That you, my king. would die for me
Amazing love, I know it's true
Its my joy to honor you
Amazing love how can it be?

I honor you
