I read something on a friend's timeline that got me thinking, "My Word is my Bond." What does it mean and what's the implication? To me this phrase implies that the person is able and will always keep His word no matter what. His word can be trusted. I CAN stand on his word and take it to the bank.

Now, God speaks with authority and excellence. Psalm 119 has 176 verses which bring our attention to God's Word. The following terms convey the concept of authority:
1. The Law of God-it reveals God's will, how we should live.
2. Testimony- personal witness pointing to the dependability of God's word.
3. Precept-points to particular instructions; authoritative rule; divine injunction.
4. Commandment-has an idea of giving orders
5. Statute-a written law made by God. Has an idea of permanence.
6. Judgements- carries the idea of justice in the character of God.
7. Ordinance-an authoritative rule or law; a principle governing action.
8. Decree- authoritative order, rule or law, statement or decision. The emphasis is the fact that God has Spoken.
9. Promise- a binding commitment to honor His word. It points out to dependability and faithfulness of the One who has spoken.

Looking at the terms above, the authority God's word carries calls for our careful attention and consideration; full obedience, keeping it, reverence, awe, submission, consideration, teaching it, recounting it, learning, knowledge and understanding; intentional reading, studying, memorization meditation and delight; preservation and transmission; living accordingly, longing for it all the times; they are to be held fast,

Blessed is the man who walks according to the law.
Blessed is the man who keeps the statutes

How do you handle God's word? How do you respond to it? How do you perceive it? Do you give it due respect, uninterrupted attention, priority and consideration?

#Relentless_Call.

Dear Diary,

Sometimes, I have made countless calls that go unanswered (this happens countless times), I have made other call but the subscriber number is no longer in use. I have also made calls and that lady on the end of the line tells me, "Nasikitika mteja wa nambari uliyopiga hapatikani kwa sasa." Gggrrrrrr!

On my end, someone can call me but I deliberately ignore the call for a couple or multiple reasons some which are reasonable while others are unrealistic and immature or I just don't have a relevant point to make to my caller at that moment; I say to myself, "I'll call him/her later."

Now, how do you feel when you make a call or send a text message that goes unanswered for minutes, hours, days, weeks or months? Many times we feel ignored, frustrated, desperate or even we burn with anger & probably develop an attitude. I have been there..., I felt ignored, desperate, bitter...etc.

As I scribbled this experience on my journal God placed Jeremiah 33:3 in my heart, "With God it's never a missed call or a faulty line, or unavailable subscriber." He says, "Call to Me and I'll answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know."

Dear friend, keep calling... It's never a missed/ignored call/unavailable subscriber or a faulty line with our God.

Thank God for the answered prayer and even for the unanswered one. You don't have to be bitter with Him if He delayed returning your call. Keep calling Him, He will hear and answer. Take Him at His word. Aliyeahidi atajibu.

Why do we use cosmetics/makeup/ornaments? Why do we want to be attractive?

In Titus 2:9-10, the Apostle Paul calls on slaves to submit to their masters in everything, to be well-pleasing, not argumentative, not stealing from them but showing all good Faith, so that in every respect they will ADORN the teaching about God our Savior (Berean Study Bible). NIV says, "...make the teaching about God our Savior attractive."

Now, let me pick that phrase, "ADORN the teaching about God our Savior or make the teaching about God our Savior ATTRACTIVE." In the Greek text ADORN is 'kosmeo/kosmosin' from which comes the English word Cosmetic or Make Up. It gives the idea of embellishing, heightening the attractiveness by adding decorations or to make beautiful. Basically, myriad of us especially women, we can't live without makeup. We can't leave the house without it. Why? Because being embellished with ornaments or cosmetic makes us feel attractive.

So, how is this relevant? As Christ's slaves, our habitual practice must continually radiate the beauty of Christ in us. People out there are constantly looking for flaws in professed Christians, so if you are truly a Christian, a Christ-follower, be an ORNAMENT of Christian Faith. Be Someone who lends grace and beauty; adds luster in the society.

I am radiating the beauty of Christ.

So, there's this gentleman who has persistently called and sms'd me to get him a job since last year. He usually introduces himself as xyz son of abc. Well, honestly I don't know/recognize the abc though he knows me and is convinced that I am in a position to help his son. On Monday he send me another reminder and this time I decided to send him to one of our sites and told him to say he's been send by Elizabeth. When this gentleman got there, he was send to my boss but instead of saying he's been send by Elizabeth, am told he said Kalekye, so my boss told him there's no vacancy. Before leaving, the gentleman tells me he told my boss Elizabeth referred him. Upon hearing that, my boss asked for his papers and he was told to report to work on Monday.

What's my point? Does a name matter? Well, I don't know but I know one Name that is above all other names. The NAME JESUS. At the mention of this Name, every knee bows, mountains, situation and condition melt. At the mention of this Name demons flee; sickness and diseases are healed; chains are broken, yokes are loosed, strongholds come tumbling down. At the mention of the Name Jesus oceans roar, the mountains quakes and the esrth gives way. The name Jesus matters so much because it means God with us, salvation, forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life! Matthew 1:21-23.

Have you ever thought to yourself, “#Am_I_Truly_Loved? #Am_I_Worth_Dying_For?

Has someone ever asked you to prove your love for him/her? How best did/can you prove you love someone?

Some years back in High School, I had this crush with a certain “Alejandro.” He was adorable for sure. I loved him to bits. However, there was an issue, he asked me to prove that I truly loved him. Well, I thought about it critically and I remembered mama’s advice (story for another day). So, I told my crush to take me by my word because there was no any other way to prove it. Unfortunately or fortunately, he took off and I gladly moved on.

Juzi, I said to someone, “I penda you to Timbuktu and back; to the moon and back.” Honestly ata sijui Timbukt ni wapi, ata sijaienda huko! let's say they are just clumsy phrases to express a quantum of love in terms of distance. Another cliche phrases, "I love you to infinity and back." Today got 1, 2, 3, 4 and/or 5 human beings who I am consciously aware that they truly love me. In fact one of these humans tells me, “I love you too much and you know it. You know I can do anything for you.” Well, am thinking of putting someone on a real test but am rethinking my thinking, what if they also put me the same test to prove my love for them?

I have a mama I love so much; I have a multi-talented and handsome brother and a dear sister, heavens know how much I love with all of my heart. God has graciously blessed me to be an aunt to two amazing nieces and an adorable nephew. I love these beings too. Wait a minute! Just how much do I love these special people? Just how much can I sacrifice for them? Can I really become a substitute for them? I’d like to think I could do that for them, but honestly I don’t know. For now let me say, “I’ll cross the river when I get there-God helping me.” I know if they happen to read this scribble they might feel disappointed in me but God knows, I am honest! I don’t know if I will be too disappointed if none of my loved ones will be willing to dare even loose a finger nail as a substitute for me.

I know each of you reading this scribble have someone you deeply love, however, I don’t know how much you are willing to sacrifice for that person. Let me pose it there as I ponder it further. What’s my point? As much as we all crave sacrificial love of others, no one on earth loves us as much as the Lord Jesus Christ does. He saw you and I as worth dying for. He paid the ultimate price for all our sins. He willingly and lovingly became our substitute.  Romans 5:6-8 (AMP), “⁶ While we were still helpless [powerless to provide for our salvation], at the right time Christ died [as a substitute] for the ungodly. ⁷ Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to willingly give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a good man [one who is noble and selfless and worthy] someone might even dare to die. ⁸ But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Psalm 63:3, God’s love is better than life, no doubt about that. He proved His love for you and I. Why did He do it? Because, “You are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you,” Isaiah 43:4.

Next time someone asks/wonders, “Am I truly loved? What prove do I have that I am loved?” It’s enough that God’s love is better than life.

I can bet many people use an alarm clock to wake up in the morning. Most of our alarm clocks have a  a snooze and dismiss button. When the alarm goes off, you can hit that button and go back to sleep, interestingly many of us can hit the buttons without opening the eyes. In about ten minutes (or whatever interval you set), the alarm will go off again. You can just keep on doing this and go right on sleeping. Maybe it is nice to get that extra sleep, but there are two problems with snooze and/or dismiss alarms. The first is that if you keep on hitting the snooze/dismiss alarm, you may be late or miss out on something completely. The second problem is that if you keep hitting the snooze/dismiss alarm, you may get so used to the sound of the alarm that you don’t even hear it at all and you will sleep right through the alarm.

I’m shy to admit I hit snooze buttons often. Saturday was one of those days I hit the dismiss button and was late for a safari. My friend and I were to meet in town at 5:45am to catch a shuttle to Bobaracho, Kisii for burial of my baby sister’s brother. My alarm went off at 5:00am and I hit the snooze button. The second time it went off I dismissed it and decided I’ll do my morning prayers under the duvet. Well, you guessed acceptably, I didn’t say Amen in my prayer because I drifted to dreamland. Exactly at 6:00am, my safari-mate called me and I woke up. Helter-skelter I ran frantically in the house, in 10 minutes I was done with my routine grooming. I literally ran to stage, took a nduthii which cost me ksh. 300/-. I made it to town at 6:43am, 1 hour late. Because of snoozing and hitting the dismiss alarm, we missed the 6am shuttles and had to leave at around 7:20am. We made it to Bobaracho village safely but a little bit late.

Did you know that God sometimes sounds a wake up alarm in our lives? He speaks to our heart and says, "It is time to wake up and follow me." Some of us have been hitting the snooze/dismiss button and say, "Not now Lord, call me again -- a little bit later." Some have it so many times that they get to where they don’t even hear God’s voice. When they finally wake up, they find out that it is too late.

Years before 2013, several times I heard God call me into ministry but I kept snoozing and dismissing it. It cost me more than I had anticipated. I remember one day God spoke to me through my mom but I rudely dismissed her and was at logger heads with her simply because she said what I knew was truth of what God needed me to do. I snoozed the call and had a better deal, at least better according to I, me and myself. I dismissed God’s business and went to pursue other things, but I didn’t find any peace and contentment in that. I was on the run; I had snoozed and dismissed but God in His grace and wisdom reached me. Today, I am where I am because of His relentless love and grace.

I’d like to speak to someone who has been snoozing and/or dismissing God’s wake up call. My friend, doesn’t waste time any more, wake up and follow Jesus. You, who have been saying, it is not yet time to give your life to Jesus. Hear me, now is the time. Give your life to Jesus. Don’t wait until it’s too late. It can cost your life; your eternal destiny.
Some of you, it is the fear of the unknown that holds you back and makes you keep hitting the snooze/dismiss button. It’s time to make an intentional decision to commit your life to Jesus. 2 Corinthians 6:2, “AT THE ACCEPTABLE TIME (the time of grace) I LISTENED TO YOU, AND I HELPED YOU ON THE DAY OF SALVATION. Behold, now is THE ACCEPTABLE TIME, behold, now is THE DAY OF SALVATION.”

Does a fast or quick peek into something matter? Is what I see/look at significant? Have you ever been on Google, Facebook, Instagram etc then suddenly a captivating image pops up on your window. You give it a quick glance, a fast peek and then the next minute you decide there’s no harm in clicking on it! As you process what you have just glanced on, you’re thinking about it, you desire it; you consider; you choose; you covet; you lust; you envy and eventually you commit immorality. Ahem, I know you thinking, “What has this girl been looking at?” I bet a quick and fast glance at the following TV commercials-Fresh-Fri, Durex condom, Coca-Cola, Diva soap, the 2013 semi-nude Vaseline billboard causes (d) ripples to some people if not all.

In Genesis 13:15 God told Abram, “Look around from where you are, to the north and south, to the east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.” God wants us to lift our eyes and see what He desires to give us. Things that will bring glory to Him; things that will add no sorrow, pain, shame and guilty. What you see determines the actions you take.

Let’s consider the following people: In Genesis 3:6, God had given instructions to Adam. He and his wife could eat as much as they desired from all the trees in the garden except from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. But Eve saw that the tree was pleasant to the eyes and good for food. She then took of its fruit ate it and gave some to hubby. For that sin and death entered the world. In Joshua 7:20-21, Achan saw the plunder-a beautiful robe from Babylonia, 200 shekels of silver and 50 shekels of gold. He coveted and stole them. As a result, God’s fierce anger was kindled against Israel. When Achan confessed, all Israel stoned and burned him to death. Ouch! The popular darling of God, a great song writer and worshipper, David a man whose heart was after God’s, saw a woman bathing. Indeed she was very beautiful to behold. He continued to watch her bathe, and then he wanted what he saw. He enquired about her, sent for her and eventually committed immorality.

Through the eye, your attention can be captivated and turned toward wickedness. It doesn’t matter who you are-whether a worship leader, a pastor, a politician, a student; young or old; man or woman. There is an intentional and urgent need to protect the door to your thoughts; your eye. A sneak peek into seeming harmless image/thing will make you think and act upon the object of your sight.It all begins with a quick peek, a fast glance, given time to process, you make determination to act upon what you saw.
