Dear Diary,

Today got a few things to scribble. The first is #What_Do_You_Seek?
#What_Can_I_Do_For_You?
#I_Dialled_By_Mistake.

I am certain many people have ever dialled someone's phone number by mistake or even aimlessly. So, yesterday someone called me when I was in church service but I wasn't able to return the call, so I sent a customized text asking the caller to text. The person didn't call again. Today in the morning when I was on my way to work, the caller beeped me again. I decided to call back, "Hello, good morning. Who is my caller, yesterday you tried calling me and I see once again you have given me a beep?" My caller said, "Sorry, I dialled by mistake." Then I said, "It's alright. Is there anything I can do for you?" "Not really." Then I said, "Ok. Then have a good day." I hang up and went about my business.

I have found myself thinking about the caller; how many people make a call to God and when He asks, "What can I do for you? What do you seek?" They tend to shy off or they just realize they are blank and/or had made an aimless call? It reminded me of something I was sharing in our Bible Study service on Friday. Andrew and John followed Jesus upon hearing John the Baptist's witness, "Behold the Lamb of God!" John 1:29. When Jesus turned and saw them following He said to them, "What do you seek?" v.38. Today, He asks you the same question, "What do you seek?" Did you attempt following by mistake? Did you dial His number by mistake or aimlessly? What exactly are you seeking? What do you need Him to do for you?

Giving the sovereign God ultimatums, dates and deadlines; does it work the magic?

There are seasons my hope has come with ultimatums, “God, you know how patiently I have waited for/on/in You! You know, sometimes I desperately need a quick fix but You’re just there, You don’t act speedy!”

Ain’t kidding, not once or twice I have given God deadlines to come through for me and I threaten if He does not, I would walk away from trusting, believing and hoping in Him. Dear diary, today I was just reflecting on how I used to throw tantrums when God didn’t instantly respond to my desperate calls. God, you remember when I prayed, “God if you don’t give me a hubby by my 23rd, 24th, 25th birthday I will backslide; I will not praise you; I will not even ask You again!” Remember those months I had severe dysmenorrhea and I prayed, “God if you don’t take this pain away by next month, I will go out there and have a baby.” Hehe, ‘God, did you LOL at me?’ There is this day I was desperately in need of a job and I prayed, “God, if you give me that job by mid this month, I will give you my first salary.” Arrrgh! I didn’t get it that time. Then, there is this time I used to be so poor, and only had one pair of shoe (Jesus’sandals) and a ka-short skirt which was my ‘Sunday best’ then I’d desperately plead, “God if you don’t give me another pair of shoe by next Sunday, I won’t go to church (though I lived within the church compound).” Mehn, the list is endless, I mean, I have set dates and deadlines for God, but who sets dates for God!! My work is to trust that He will bring out the best in me when that time comes or when that season is over.

Today in my devotion, I was reading Luke chapter 1, about Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. “6 Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. 7 But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.” Amazingly, they continued to trust in God. In fact, Zechariah continued to perform his priestly ministry. “11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.” Wow! What a holy challenge? This man continued to serve God gladly, he continued to pray and trust God even when the situation was hopeless and barren. He didn’t cease to praise, believe and trust God. He didn’t God dates and ultimatums but continued to serve Him; praying; waiting with expectation and anticipation; he continued to offer incense.

Now, you see, several times I have given God ultimatums but it didn’t work. But God has graciously dealt with me. In His time He has made things beautiful. His peace saturates my soul. Over time, I have grown; I no longer issue God ultimatums. I count on God’s FAITHFULLNESS. Nothing is too difficult for Him. Luke 1: 37, “For no word from God will ever fail.” Aliyeniahidi, atatenda kwa wakati wake.

Dear heart, here is the secret, “Wait... with expectation. Wait... with anticipation.
Wait... I will worship You, Lord, while I wait.” Why? Because I have learned that God has good and great plans for me. (Jeremiah 29:11), “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

So, this is my first scribble this year and it's a testimony. My hope is that someone will be encouraged. Today in our children's church service (Judea) we were singing "Kama mvua ishukavyo, toka mbinguni.... Na neno Lake kwa kinywa chake, halitarudi bure." I then made an altar call asking anyone sick to stand and tap into the promise of God. A no.of kids stood, I told them to have faith in God and as we sung again and we all prayed. after the prayers we sat and then I asked, "Has anyone received their healing? A certain girl stood up and came forward and testified that when she came in, one of her ear was sort of blocked and after praying she feels like it's gone and her ear is now fine. We gave a round of applause to God.

Dear Diary, you see, sometimes I pray but I have doubts, "Will this thing really happen?" The faith of a little girl in a big God worked and it challenged me. Mark 11:22-24; Heb 11:1,6; James 1:5-8; 5:13-16. If we are to move mountains, we MUST HAVE FAITH IN GOD. We must ask Him in AITH. If u have faith you will speak to mountains in your life, impossibilities, difficult issues and they will be removed. Valleys will be levelled, grace will be sufficient. The prayer of the righteous man offered in faith is powerful and effective. If God did it for that girl, He will do it for you because He is a faithful Promise Keeper.

I feel inspired and challenged. God help my unbelief.

Keep Your Hand Clasped in God's Hand

Dear Diary,

Yesterday as I was going about my errands, I met a pair-a father and a son (about 4-5yr old). They were walking with the son's hand clasped in his father's hand. I was following, envying and admiring the father-son relationship. Suddenly, the little champ let go and refused to be held by the dad. So, the dad pleaded with the boy, "patia baba mkono." The kid refused and in frustration the dad grabbed him by force. You can imagine the depressing and hysterical screams. I walked past them and got lost in thoughts.

How many times have I withdrawn my hand from God's hand? What's the worst that can happen if my hand is not clasped in His? Isaiah 41:13, "For I, Jehovah, thy God, hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."
