Lesson #1. Faith based on God’s Rhema (spoken word).

Hearing God’s voice necessitate us to have a personal intimate relationship and experience with God. Obedience to God’s word is our highest level of pleasing Him.

Has God really spoken to you about that thing you are pursuing? If it has not been spoken it cannot be believed. However, note that other times trusting God is generally on His immutable character.

Significance
In Genesis 1, God spoke words of Faith; words which had power to create. He spoke and it came to being. Romans 10:17, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the (spoken) word of God.” On the other hand, faith is released primarily by the words of our mouth. Mark 11:23-24 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt ...but believes.., it will be done....Romans 10:8-10 “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your hearts i.e. the word of faith...”

Taking God at His word
Genesis 12:1, “Now Yahweh said to Abram, leave your country...to the land I will show you.” Vs 4 says, “...so Abram went as the Lord had told him.” Truly, God blessed him Romans 4:18.

Genesis 26: 2 The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land where I tell you to live. Stay in this land for a while, and I will be with you and will bless you....” Isaac acted on God’s word; he stayed in the land and though there was famine, he planted crops and the same year reaped a hundredfold.

In Genesis 6, Noah acted on God’s word; built an ark just as the Lord had directed him and so he was saved from the flood.

Caleb took God at His word. Joshua 14:12Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day (40yrs ago). You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the Lord helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”
Joshua 6:3 “The Lord said to Joshua, ‘...march around the city (Jericho)....’” Joshua together with the people did as the Lord commanded and in vs. 20 we see that the walls of Jericho tumbled down.
Mathew 2: 13-23, God spoke to Joseph in a dream saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you...” 14 So he got up, took the child and his mother...left for Egypt, 15 where he stayed until the death of Herod. And so was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called my son.” As Joseph acted on God’s word, scripture was fulfilled and also Jesus’ life was safe.

Dear child of God it’s of paramount important that you HEAR and OBEY God’s word. Before you endeavour to do anything, seek to hear the voice of God. Cultivate an intimate relationship with Him and let your heart and ears be inclined to hear Him give you direction.

I am searching for God, but He seems to be hiding

When God seems distant..., how does He expect me to worship Him?
It's true, "The situations that will stretch your faith most will be those times when life falls apart and God is nowhere to be found."

Ever felt like God was a million miles away from you?

I wonder what Don Moen was going through when He wrote the lyrics of the song "I will sing." I also wonder what the other singer meant when he sung, "Tambarare kwa Yesu hakuna Milima..."

When is the last I (you) had an encounter with God that knocked me (you) off my (your) horse?

Yes, I believe it is God's pleasure to woo me to an intimate relationship with Him but I seem to be lost in my own vast world thinking, why is it that sometime He seems a million miles away? Why is that sometimes it's hard to see all the thoughts and plans He has for me?

In my darkest hour, through the sorrow and the pain does He expect me to pray, sing and praise Him? Does He expect me to lift my hands to honor and trust Him? Do I see His grace in my life?

Like me, have you found yourself asking, "Why am I searching for God? Is God pursuing me as much as I am pursuing Him?" May be you have or you have not.

Psalm 43:5; 42:11 says,  "Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope in God: for I shall yet praise Him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God." (KJV)
Have you ever felt angry and resentful at God?

So if that how I (you) have been feeling, what then is the way forward?

1. It is likely that I need to confess some hidden anger and resentment at God for certain areas of my life where I have felt cheated or disappointed...
2. I'm making a deliberate decision to rekindle my intimate friendship with God
3. I will focus on who God is-His unchanging nature.
4. I will be honest with God-tell Him how exactly I feel not how I think I ought to feel.
5. I will remember what He has done for me in the past and continue to trust Him.

Does anyone understand what am talking about? If it makes sense, then  you know what to do.

With luv,
Kachel
